Privacy, Terms & Permissions

Reelic is built to be private by default. The Chrome extension reads the Instagram saves page that you already see in your browser, indexes the captions, hashtags, and creator handles locally, and gives you a search layer on top.

What stays on your device

The full content of your saved reels (captions, thumbnails, creator handles, hashtags, and timestamps) is stored in your browser using IndexedDB and Chrome's storage APIs. We do not transmit, copy, or read this data on any server we control. Uninstalling the extension or clearing your browser data removes it.

What we send to Supabase (and only what we send)

If you opt into the Global Leaderboard or Taste Twin features, Reelic sends aggregate counts derived from your saves to our Supabase backend: your chosen display name, total reels saved, your top creators, your top hashtags, your curator tier, and your last sync timestamp. We do not send individual reel captions, thumbnails, links, or any data tied to a single saved post. You can disable these features at any time; doing so deletes your row from the leaderboard within twenty-four hours.

What we don't collect

• No login credentials. Reelic never sees your Instagram password.
• No DMs, stories, or private posts. Only the public saves page.
• No analytics, telemetry, or third-party tracking scripts.
• No advertising identifiers.

Children's privacy

Reelic is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under that age.

Your choices

You can export or delete your local index from the extension's dashboard at any time. To remove your leaderboard row, toggle the "Share to Leaderboard" setting off, or email us via the Support page.

This policy reflects how Reelic is built today. If we change anything that affects how your data is handled, we'll update this page and bump the date at the top.

By installing and using Reelic, you agree to these terms.

The extension

Reelic is provided free of charge during the open beta. You may use it for personal, non-commercial purposes. We may add a paid tier in the future for power users; if we do, current users will get notice and an opt-in.

Your account & data

Reelic does not require an account. If you participate in the Global Leaderboard, the display name you choose is the only identifier we store. You can delete it at any time.

Acceptable use

• Don't use Reelic to scrape, harvest, or redistribute other people's data.
• Don't attempt to reverse-engineer the leaderboard to harm other users.
• Don't use Reelic in a way that violates Instagram's Terms of Service or any applicable law.

Disclaimer

Reelic is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee that the extension will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with future changes to Instagram's page structure. Instagram may change its layout at any time, which can temporarily break indexing until we ship an update.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Reelic and its contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the extension.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be highlighted on this page and announced in the extension.

Reelic requests the minimum permissions needed to do its job. Here's every permission it asks for and why.

We will never silently add new permissions. Any new permission request will require you to re-approve the extension in Chrome.
